Singing Kirtan, which is essentially devotional music to God, is an incredibly healing practice for oneself, one’s family, and one’s community. The Beginner Online Course is a way to begin your Kirtan journey on the harmonium with three Mantras; Aad Guray Nameh, Chattar Chakkar Varatee, and the Mool Mantra. It includes foundational teachings from the Sikh tradition of Kirtan on how to play the harmonium, how to sing and understand musical notation, how to keep the rhythm, how to open one’s voice, how to pronounce and understand the Gurmukhi words in each Mantra, a basic understanding of the history of each Mantra, and support tools and teachings to experience confidence, devotion, and meditative awareness in your Kirtan practice.

These courses consist of up to twelve 1 to 1 livestream sessions in German or English with Amrit Neer Gyan Kaur. Both have worked with Snatam as her co-teacher for many years now.

The attendees for the beginner course range from being complete beginners with no prior musical experience, to people with musical experience, but who have had no prior experience with Sikh traditional Kirtan. The 1 to 1 setting works well for people who wish to set their own pace, and who want more attention and time from the teacher than what the group class can provide.  

Please allow for 30-60 minutes of practice time each day while taking the course for maximum benefit.

The Intermediate Online Course is for those who have completed the Beginner Online Course. In the IH 1 course, you will learn the mantras: So-i Sunandarhee, Rakhay Rakhanahaar, and Raa Maa Daa Saa. We will be creating many courses IH 2, IH 3, IH 4, and so on, so you can continue your study.
