Jap(i) Man Sat(i) Naam(u) Words

ichhaa poorak(u) sarab sukhadaataa har(i) jaa kai vas(i) hai kaamadaynaa ||

God is the Fulfiller of desires, the Giver of total peace; the Kaamadaynaa, the wish-fulfilling cow, is in God's power.


so aisaa har(i) dhi-aa-ee-ai mayray jee-aray taa sarab sukh paavahi mayray manaa ||1||

So meditate on God, O my soul. Then, you shall obtain total peace, O my mind. ||1||


jap(i) man sat(i) naam(u) sadaa sat(i) naam(u) ||

Chant, O my mind, the True Name, Sat(i) Naam(u), the True Name.


halat(i) palat(i) mukh oojal ho-ee hai nit dhi-aa-ee-ai har(i) purakh(u) niranjanaa ||rahaa-u ||

In this world, and in the world beyond, your face shall be radiant, by meditating continually on the immaculate Lord God. ||Pause||


jeh har(i) simaran(u) bha-i-aa teh upaadh(i) gat(u) keenee vadabhaagee har(i) japanaa ||

Wherever anyone remembers God in meditation, disaster runs away from that place. By great good fortune, we meditate on God.


jan naanak ka-u gur(i) eh mat(i) deenee jap(i) har(i) bhavajal(u) taranaa ||2||6||12||

The Guru has blessed servant Nanak with this understanding, that by meditating on God, we cross over the world-ocean. ||2||6||12||
