Ever have one of those days....
All my appointments, errands got wrapped around 2pm. I had 2 hours before the next meeting. Loaded up the dogs and drove 6 miles to our rural communities lake. It gets old looking at the same 4 walls for months on end.
40 degrees, about 50mph winds, the lake is nothing but white caps. Across the lake is this amazing color of red, orange, and some green tree leaves. The dogs were excited to be out in nature. God is so ever-present around water, lake, oceans, etc. The cold did not bother me. The smiles on the dog's faces were worth the shivering.
I can forget how healing hearing water crash upon the banks. Feeling the wind against your face. Seeing a large swath of water, seeing trees, knowing they are alive. God gives us their/her/his presence by those natural elements. But I get so damn busy I forget I live 6 miles from the lake. It was so healing for me today, seeing the dogs enjoy a wide body of land, water to explore. Luke, the boxer/pit bull was so inquisitive with the sound of the water hitting the bank. He would jump to where it splashed upon the wet earth, then the next splash 4 feet away. He kept darting to each sound of the waves and his ears perked up and he had this strange but funny look on his face.
Ellie Mae my black cocker spaniel, has been my service dog for 7 years. She is a human garbage disposal. Found an open bag of Halloween candy by the water bank. I quickly said NO and led her in the other direction.
About twenty minutes later on our hike, I noticed a white stick sticking out of her mouth. She had hid her Tootsie Roll pop from me and been eating it for 20 minutes. I just laughed. My whole diaphragm exploded in laughter.
We got back to the car, turned on the heater, but all three of us were in the front seat. All three of us glued to the water, the white caps, the colorful changing colors of the trees on the far-away bank. Earlier in the week in reading the Siri Guru Granth Shahib, was a verse on how we are part of God. Like each of us as a drop in the larger body of water, called the ocean. O' Siblings of Destiny, Specifically Ang 341 says, "When one drop blends with another drop, then these drops cannot be separated again. Become the Lord’s slave, and hold tight to His meditation.:
This so rang true to my soul and my heart as we watching the fading daylight. We savored each drop of water in that lake. We saw God in the trees, the air, the water. It was so good for all of our souls to get out of the house and go explore nature!

I CHALLENGE you to go out in nature and find GOD and post some pictures along with a story!
