As the air continues to cool and we begin to look towards the upcoming new year approaching, we step into what is predominately referred to as the "Holiday Season"; for many, this is the most wonderful time of the year, but for others it can be quite polarizing. For instance, if you do not celebrate one of the holidays in question, you may feel left out; or perhaps you have painful memories associated with this time of year due to the loss of loved ones, or perhaps an absence of family or community in your life. The steady decline in the sun's angle in the sky as we approach the Winter Solstice in the northern hemisphere results in far less sunlight than most human's require to produce the Vitamin D they need to avoid falling into depression during the winter months, so we can also see a significant uptick in mental health issues as well. One of the ways we combat this tendency is by gathering with friends and family to celebrate the past, give thanks (and gifts) for our blessings in the present, and look towards the possibilities of the future.... but 2020 is different. Unprecedented, in fact. Most of us alive on the earth today have never lived through a pandemic, and instead of gathering, we are being pleaded with by our medical professionals and frontline workers to stay home and away from loved ones for the sake of the greater good. Additionally, with so many unknowns ahead of us, looking towards and planning for the future can feel impossible at times....
So how can Numerology explain all this?? Well I thought you'd never ask!
December is the 12th month of the year; therefore its the only month where we do not keep the number as is, since all calculations in this particular form of Numerology will be continually reduced until they are between 1 and 11; so instead 12 will become 3 (1+2) which represents the 3rd Body - the Positive/Projective Mind. I use the word "Projective" here (don't look it up, it's not a "real" word, but is more descriptive than it's traditional name...) because it's important to remember that the function of the Positive Mind has very little to do with actual positivity the way we might refer to it in the context of "the opposite of negative". Rather, the Positive Mind is not concerned with success or failure, good or bad, right or wrong - only potential and its limits. The capacity we have to be creative, future-thinking, collaborative individuals has a lot to do with the balance point of our 3rd Body - if too strong, it can speed past every red flag in order to reach a goal, only to find that once it gets there it will have burned every bridge and candle at both ends, to the point of isolation, failure, and exhaustion; if too weak, it will behave in contrast to what its name implies and will be completely unable to see ANY possibility for success or hope whatsoever.... Again, it's a polarizing energy!
The 3 connects us to socialization (1=the individual, 2=the pair, 3=the group), fun, art, food (the 3rd Chakra being the Navel Center, associated with the digestive system), and collaboration. That's why there's so much emphasis on togetherness! Additionally, 12 is known as a Significant Intermediate number, and it represents Tribes; those family, friends, colleagues, community, and like-minded individuals we surround ourselves with to feel safe, connected, and a part of something greater. This further reenforces the urge to gather during this time of year; however, it can also be a double edged sword... while we may have strength in numbers, we also can fall prey to group-think, or Tribal Mentality. This is when individuals are swept into a frenzy or are convinced to go along with or agree to standards they are actually opposed to, thus giving up their sovereignty within said group. Group Consciousness, on the other hand, is the recognition that we are all one, but we are all ALSO individuals with our own thoughts, feelings, and opinions about how the world works and so to stand in that truth is one of the greatest tests of our resolve. We do not need to agree with everyone all the time, and that's ok; however, sovereignty without empathy can lead to apathy; or a lack of care for others. The challenge is to be both a team player and a self-sustaining individual - and I cannot think of a greater theme for 2020.
Ultimately, the point is this: humanity will survive this virus, we have survived worse, but it will take collaboration and group consciousness in order to happen sooner rather than later.
Please wear a mask, please stay home if you can; if not for yourself, then for those you wish to see and hold close once we reach the other side of this sea of isolation. The future health of ALL the tribes of humanity depends on it.
