Sat Naam - The Shabad Gayo Ree Mai, song by Bhai Avtar Singh and his father was what we played in class - here's the translation with my commentary:

O I sing the songs of joy of my Lord, the treasure of virtue.

I consciously direct myself to sing to my Source and I feel joy.

Fortunate is the time, day, moment when I become pleasing to the Lord of the world.

I oscillate between remembering and forgetting Source, connection with Soul and connection with thoughts. When remembrance of Soul comes, I am humbled. This is the highest experience by good Grace.

I touch my forehead to the feet of the Saints.

I consciously meditate at the 3rd Eye, and work to establish my inner dwelling within the 3rd Eye.

The Saints have placed their hand on my forehead.

The ones who meditate on Truth at the 3rd Eye, activate my meditation at the 3rd Eye.

My mind is filled with the mantra of the holy Saints.

Meditating at the 3rd Eye, my mind has become still and empty. Now it can be filled with the thought wave of Sat Naam.

I have risen above the three qualities.

The three Gunas: Saatva - peace, charity, service. Raja - movement, fire. Tamas - lethargy, block, heavy. Pure energy takes form within ourselves in these 3 qualities. All are useful and good at the right times, in the right amounts. I consciously direct the pure energy as I wish.

Gazing upon the blessed vision of the Darshan of God's devotees, my eyes are filled with love.

From the 3rd Eye, within an empty mind, that is effortlessly filled with Sat Naam, pure energy flows everywhere and I see purity everywhere.

Greed and attachment are gone along with doubt.

The tendency of the mind to identify and then create feelings of mine and not mine, leading to greed, attachment and doubt has ceased to exist when my mind is empty, pure, and filled with Sat Naam.

Says Naanak, I have found intuitive peace, poise, and bliss.

Humbly, in the emptiness through pure awareness, I find peace, poise, and bliss radiating from the 3rd Eye.

Tearing down the wall, I have met with the Lord, the embodiment of supreme bliss.

The matrix of the ignorant ego is seen, and therefore dissolved. What is left is Oneness with Source, and it feels like supreme bliss.

Dwelling in God, within one's self, and being in the world, at the same time. How's it going?
